Feb 18, 2023
HQ4A2 proudly celebrates the success of Whirlwind of Color, the 4th solo exhibition by Assam-based artist Ranjan Choudhury, held on February 16-17, 2023, at ITA Machkhowa, Guwahati. Featuring over 60 oil landscapes, this exhibition highlighted Choudhury's mastery and deep connection to nature, marking a milestone for both the artist and HQ4A2 in supporting regional talent with global potential.
Ranjan Choudhury, a renowned Assamese artist, has crafted over 500 artworks that vividly bring to life the landscapes, rivers, and serene beauty of his homeland, inspired by memories of places he visited in his youth. His intricate use of color and texture captures the essence of these scenes, imbuing each brushstroke with emotional depth and a quiet narrative. Through his paintings, viewers are invited to experience the lush beauty of landscapes from his mind and the experience of natural wonders.
In February 2023, his latest solo exhibition, Whirlwind of Color, was held at ITA Machkhowa in Guwahati with the dedicated support of HQ4A2. The exhibition featured over 60 of his works and attracted art enthusiasts, cultural figures, and distinguished guests. Notable attendees included Dr. Nomal Chandra Borah, founder of GNRC Hospitals, who admired Choudhury’s ability to evoke the soul of landscapes. Writer and economist G.P. Barooah and IAS officer Pallav Gopal Jha were also captivated by the exhibition, underscoring its cultural significance for Assam.
Choudhury’s journey as an artist is a testament to resilience. Although drawn into the responsibilities of his family’s tea business, he never let go of his passion for painting. After retiring, he returned wholeheartedly to art, rediscovering the landscapes that had inspired him for decades. His work reflects this path—a reminder that it’s never too late to follow one’s dreams.
Beyond his contributions to art, Choudhury is also a visionary entrepreneur and the creator of Shristinagar Guwahati, a scenic township nestled in Kharguli Hills with sweeping views of the Brahmaputra River. Combining modern amenities with the natural beauty of Assam, Shristinagar offers thoughtfully designed spaces for both community and relaxation.
For HQ4A2, supporting Choudhury’s exhibition reflects a deep commitment to nurturing the artistic potential of the Northeast. By shouldering the journey of artists like Choudhury, HQ4A2 is fostering cultural enrichment in the region and helping local talent reach audiences far beyond the borders of Assam.
